Financial Analyst

Description:

This person will be a key member of the Canadian Refined Products Finance team and will be responsible for the preparation and communication of financial responsibility and performance measurement reports, linking internal results to both the economic income statement and external financial reporting. The individual is also responsible for preparing and providing variance analysis for long-term planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Outside of core duties, this role requires identifying, planning, and executing continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, standardization, reporting and analysis agility, and the strength of the management framework. You can This role requires strong technical and professional skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to lead with influence and communicate effectively with all business functions and senior management.

Perform monthly accounting and reconciliation processes for accruals and actual records.

• Prepares/maintains monthly and year-to-date results for refined gas oil products.
• Works with the Company to identify and assist in the implementation of corrective
• actions to resolve discrepancies.
• Edit/Analyze/Report Performance Measurement Reports:
• Present monthly results in Performance Measurement Reports to show essential value
• added with breakdown by business channel.
• Prepare variance analysis of monthly and YTD results compared to budgets and forecasts.
• Complexity Communicate/analyze performance to various stakeholders.
• Provides a bridge from the economic income statement to the outstanding monthly
• results to demonstrate the accuracy of financial results.
• Input and analysis for planning, budgeting, and forecasting
• Provide insight/validation of business assumptions to planning teams
• Perform analysis and modeling to support long-term strategic planning and new initiatives.
• Complete budget entry in the ERP system.
• Provides divergence analysis and commentary on commodity trading results to a variety of audiences.
• Perform various monthly/quarterly variance analyzes and reports such as Margin Analysis, Operating/Non-Operating Business Units, Capital, and Contingency.
• Interpret business unit reporting results and develop qualitative explanations for discussion.
• Work with internal reporting, external reporting, and auditors to communicate financial results and results.
• We provide advice and analysis on commodity transactions and their impact on external financial reporting, including segment revenues, netback trends, business commitments, and MD&A.
• Evaluate/Develop/Implement Back Office Business Process Changes
• Identify Back Office Requirements Across All Processes
• Develop Best Practices for Back Office Processes
• Implement Process Changes (Develop and Deliver Communication and Training). Monitoring results
• Assist in managing the end-of-year close process to support the team and identify areas for improvement
• Assist in the design and implementation of the post-sale commercial strategy
• Identify and manage operational risks as part of downstream accounting Assist businesses in
• identifying and managing deficiencies in systems and processes.
• Communicate priorities and resolution status to partners/stakeholders.
